Smithers Announces President for Cannabis Testing Services Division

(Akron, Ohio, USA) – March 15, 2023 - Smithers, a leading provider of testing, consulting, information, and compliance services, announces the appointment of AJ McCardell as President of Smithers Cannabis Testing Services division.Smithers Cannabis Testing Services division currently has laboratory operations in Illinois, Massachusetts, and New York. Services provided at these sites include compliance testing to meet state requirements for cannabinoid potency, terpenes, pesticides, heavy metals, residual solvents, microbiological contaminants, mycotoxins, and a variety of state specific specialty testing services based on clients evolving needs.
AJ will lead and oversee the Cannabis Testing Services division's long-term strategy and national growth plan. As the President of a multi-state testing operation, she will direct a team of experts who are committed to consistently delivering exceptional service to our clients.
AJ joins Smithers with over 18 years of experience in commercial and operations leadership roles focused on regulatory compliance and quality control testing services for microbiology, analytical chemistry, food forensics, and import detention. Before joining the team at Smithers, she worked at NSF International as Senior Managing Director, responsible for food product certification services. Prior to NSF, AJ was President of Certified Laboratories, providing testing services to the food, supplements, cosmetic, and personal care industries.

AJ has a Bachelor of Science in biology from Lebanon Valley College and a Master of Science in soil microbiology from the University of Delaware.
