Smithers Announces Chemistry Director for the Cannabis Testing Services Division

(Akron, Ohio, USA) – June 28, 2023 - Smithers, a leading provider of testing, consulting, information, and compliance services, appointed Derek Averill, Ph.D. as Chemistry Director of Smithers Cannabis Testing Services Division.As Chemistry Director, Averill will direct the selection of analytical chemistry methodology and instrumentation for the Cannabis Testing Services Division. Additionally, he will support the Smithers network of cannabis testing laboratories and its chemists to deliver consistent, high quality analytical data.
Averill joins Smithers with over six years in the cannabis testing industry and fifteen years of analytical chemistry method development and application science expertise.

Averill has a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Oakland University and a Ph.D. in Analytical and Inorganic Chemistry from Wayne State University.
