(Akron, Ohio) – February 17, 2022 – Smithers, a leading provider of testing, consulting, information, and compliance services, announces that Josh Guilliams has been hired as Vice President of Consultancy.
Guilliams will lead Smithers’ technical consulting team based in Akron, Ohio, managing client relationships and working with other Smithers experts on complex projects. He will also conduct in-depth investigations of a wide variety of rubber materials and final products on behalf of clients.
“Our clients come to us for support addressing complex technical challenges related to field performance, material composition, and performance issues. Josh has the robust technical background needed to get our clients the answers they need,” said Jim Popio, Vice President, North America, Materials Science and Engineering, Smithers. “With his polymer expertise and his years of leadership experience, Josh embodies the Smithers commitment to accurate data, on time, with high touch.”
Before joining the team at Smithers, Guilliams spent several years in leadership at Polymer Valley Chemicals, Inc., as Technical Director and Vice President of Technical Operations. Prior to his time at Polymer Valley Chemicals, he held technical and commercial roles at Hankook Tire, EASTMAN Chemical Corporation, LANXESS Corporation, and Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations.
Guilliams has a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and engineering from Baldwin Wallace University and a Master of Polymer Science from the University of Akron. He is a Six Sigma Black Belt.
