Smithers Announces Lab Manager for the New Jersey Cannabis Testing Services Laboratory

(Mount Laurel, NJ) – May 19, 2023 - Smithers, a leading provider of testing, consulting, information, and compliance services, recently appointed Braden Wachtmann-Smoot as Laboratory Manager of Smithers Cannabis Testing Services Division New Jersey lab, which offers compliance and specialized testing services.
Wachtmann-Smoot will manage a scientific lab team to deliver accurate data, on time, through high-touch relationships while ensuring that all quality systems and processes meet New Jersey regulatory standards. Wachtmann-Smoot will manage the lab operations, ensure client expectations are met, and validate methods consistent with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards.
Before joining Smithers, Wachtmann-Smoot was a laboratory director for a cannabis testing laboratory in Ohio. Prior, he worked in an FDA-regulated medical device testing laboratory and was also involved with the build-out of an internal cannabis testing lab for a vertically-integrated cultivator and processor in Ohio.

Wachtmann-Smoot has a Bachelor of Science in molecular biology from the Defiance College in Ohio and a Masters in microbiology and cell science with a concentration in medical microbiology and biochemistry from the University of Florida.
