(Akron, Ohio) – October 26, 2021 - Smithers, a leading provider of testing, consulting, information, and compliance services, announces the promotion of Jamie Zhelesnik to Laboratory Manager for its analytical services laboratory in Akron, Ohio.

In her new role, Jamie Zhelesnik will manage the day-to-day laboratory operations, which includes the management of client projects and a team of skilled chemists. The analytical services laboratory supports extractables and leachables studies for the medical device, pharmaceutical, and food industries. 

Zhelesnik brings with her over eight years of experience in chemistry in the pharmaceutical industry and a Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Chemistry from Ohio University.   Her client-first, hands-on approach ensures that Smithers Medical Device Testing Division continues to provide the same accurate data, on time, with high touch that is expected by our clients.

Jamie Zhelesnik’s promotion is part of a broader, strategic plan to expand Smithers global reach in the life sciences industry. In 2020, Smithers increased its focus in this market with the formation of a Medical Device Testing Division and established a laboratory in Akron, Ohio. The Ohio laboratory is an extension of the company’s existing medical device testing services, which began in the United Kingdom.
